This weekend brought a completely different style of photography and a whole lot of fun! I was kindly invited along to West Leederville Primary School's Rally at Lake Monger focused on getting families out on their bikes and scooters whilst raising funds to help enhance the recreational and play spaces on the school campus.
The day started out with the children braving the obstacle course on their bikes, balancing on narrow beams, riding over a variety of ramps and weaving between poles.
They did an impressive job and there weren't very many failed attempts, those that tumbled on their first go were even more daring as they brushed themselves off ready for another try.
After fuelling up with a tasty burger, families were given a treasure map to help them find the various spots and complete a multitude of tasks that the rally had to offer. I wish I had been smart enough to bring wheels with me I walked half way around the lake in the wrong shoes and now have blisters to prove it, hindsight can be a painful thing!
Sadly the gorgeous dogs (including beautiful Hudson here) that attended could only sniff on in wonder!
The wonderful team from Snap Fitness were there to help the children with some of the tasks https://www.snapfitness.com/au/ and were a great inspiration to get fit! Head to their website if you're looking for a wonderful community to join on your road to fitness.
Luckily I had the energy for my 100km walk (ok maybe a slight overestimation) as I treated myself to a beautiful coffee from the lovely ladies from Dos Shots http://dosshots.com.au/ who were there to energise the mums and dads on this not-so-lazy Sunday afternoon. You will find them at ECU during the week keeping the students awake.
Bonus points were given to families who located and photographed a list of items including an "odd duck" (I thought he was quite cute).
Once they had found all of the spots on the map, completed all of the tasks (including a dress up station which had to be my favourite!) and collected all of the stamps they were to race back to the finish line and reward themselves with a delicious gelato thanks to Dan and his cart, https://www.thatlittlegelatocart.com.au/
Congratulations to all of the families that completed the rally and to those who did so well to win some brilliant prizes. I can't wait to meet the family who one a family photo shoot with me.
Thank you to Sarah and her wonderful team for arranging this event and to all of the volunteers who made it possible.
The children kindly helped with the pack down too!
